It takes hundreds of people to make a soap: actors and writers, most obviously, but also producers, directors, camera operators, caterers, hairstylists… And it’s someone’s job to rinse the blood from the floor of Peggy’s bar every week.
But even though it takes a village to raise a soap, there’s one person involved who’s more important, and has more power, than any other. And that’s you – the viewer. It’s your response at home that shapes the stories the soaps tell. It’s your enthusiasm that transforms jobbing actors into TV’s top-paid stars.
As the only awards of their kind voted-for entirely by the soap fans of Britain – and the best-informed viewers around, no less – The Inside Soap Awards are your chance to not only reward a year of hard work from the soaps, but also help shape their future.
All the soaps have big stories in contention, from Abi’s baby battle in Corrie to Jean’s bipolar struggle in EastEnders; Marlon’s stroke in Emmerdale to John Paul’s addiction in Hollyoaks. There’s also prizes on offer to the daytime soaps and the evening dramas – and a special prize to mark our own 30th birthday.
So… we warmly invite you to spare a few minutes to look back at 12 dramatic months in Soapland, as we pledge to celebrate the very best of the best at our ceremony in October!
